Media Language and Representation: Heaven Video

OCR Spec:Learners should investigate how the elements of the theoretical framework for media language are used to construct representations that appeal to particular audiences, including a consideration of the influence of historical, social and cultural contexts. Consideration should be made of media language elements specific to music videos such as camera shots, angles, lighting, settings, locations, costumes, props, makeup, editing and sound as appropriate.
Designated videos
feature their respective artist(s) and are a mixture of performance and narrative, and raise a number of similar representational issues surrounding ‘street life’.

Heaven
“Those sleeping on our streets are exposed to everything from sub-zero temperatures to violence and abuse, and fatal illnesses. They are 17 times more likely to be a victim of violence, twice as likely to die from infections, and nine times more likely to commit suicide. What’s worse, we know these figures are likely to be an underestimate.”

Neither Manchester City Council nor any other authority records these deaths. There is thus no data that would allow us or anyone else researching the issue to build a picture of what, collectively, their circumstances, locations or causes of death might tell us.

'Homeless people in Windsor have said they are being moved off the streets to make way for Princess Eugenie's wedding.'
The event will cost more than £2m in public money

"Ethnic minorities now account for up to 40 per cent of all homeless households in England, despite being just 15 per cent of the population."
